The British Berkefeld Water Filter 1L is the ideal solution in providing clean and safe drinking water for camping trips, use in the garden or to be prepared for an emergency. This water filter requires no power or other drive. You simply place it on your countertop or on a table or cabinet, fill it with water and the water flows by gravity to the lower part. The lower part is a large stainless steel drinking cup.
The British Berkefeld Water Filter 1L is so powerful, they are capable of effortlessly purifying water from the ground, river or ditch into safe drinking water. More than 99.99% of bacteria are stopped by the filter! This water filter also filters out lead and other heavy metals from the water!
Three larger models of British Berkefeld are also available: British Berkefeld Water filter 6L, British Berkefeld Water filter 8.5L and British Berkefeld Water filter 12L. The filter performance of all models is similar, the difference is in the weight and size of the water filter and the size of the filtered water reservoir.

You can easily assemble the British Berkefeld Water Filter 1L in a few minutes, without tools. Make sure you thoroughly clean the containers and lid (CAUTION! NOT the filter element) beforehand with warm water and detergent (preferably a mild and natural detergent). Rinse these parts well to avoid soap residue. Only briefly rinse the filter element under a cold tap to remove the production dust. Then place the filter element in the upper container and fill the upper container with water. Let the water run through, the filter speed will increase as the filter element slowly fills with water. Still throw away the first running water (or give to the plants). Then you are ready to use!
You can simply clean the containers and lid of the British Berkefeld water filter with warm water with detergent (preferred: mild and natural detergent). Make sure you clean everything thoroughly (focus also on the edges) and rinse well for a while, so that no soap residue remains. Depending on which water is being purified, you can vary from weekly to monthly cleaning.
The Ultra Sterasyl (ATC) filter element is best cleaned once a month with an abrasive sponge under running cold water. This will remove the layer of deposits created by the substances removed from the water and the filter element will flow better again. Again: depending on which water is being purified, you may be able to clean more often than once a month.
