Why we use: Natural sunscreen
The Netherlands has more and more beautiful and sunny days! This often starts as early as March and continues through September and increasingly into October. Then, of course, you want to enjoy the sunshine carefree, and we do that with natural sunburn!
Vitamin D
When the sun shines, you can also immediately boost your vitamin D levels, very much important for your health. Your body makes vitamin D as UV-B rays from the sun hit your skin. To boost vitamin D production, sunlight is important, about 30 minutes a day on skin that is not covered with sunscreen. In fact, when you are covered in sunscreen, it drastically reduces the production of vitamin D. So the sun has tremendous positive effects on our body and health. However, if you spend long periods of time outside on warm, sunny days, it is actually advisable to apply sunscreen. This is to keep your skin well protect against sunburn and skin damage. People with fair skin and delicate children's skin especially need good protection. We therefore offer natural sunscreen with a mineral filter, safe, effective and pleasant for the skin!
But what is a mineral filter and how does it differ from a chemical filter?
Chemical sunscreens soak into the skin and absorb UV radiation, while mineral sunscreens coat the skin and reflect radiation from there. Chemical filters therefore have quite a few drawbacks. Because they soak into the skin, they are much more likely to cause skin irritation and are therefore not suitable for people with sensitive skin. Some of these filters penetrate deeper into the body and enter the bloodstream, where they can disrupt our hormone balance. Oxybenzone is a common chemical filter, octinoxate and PABA too. Mineral filters protect against both UVA and UVB radiation and are most kind to the skin. They are therefore very suitable for people with sensitive skin and for children. All our natural sunscreens therefore have a mineral filter. Quite safe and 100% of course! And of course durable and biodegradable, so we don't burden our earth even more. Because did you know that lots of sunscreens contain a substance that harms fish and affects coral reefs? That's why we choose friendly ingredients for your skin and body and who also being kind to nature.
Keep that sunshine coming!
