The Sport Berkey Drinking Bottle with Filter is ideal for when exercising, travelling or other outdoor activities.

The Sport Berkey incorporates an Ionic Adsorption Micro Filtration System. The technology behind this innovation is simple. The bottle's filter is made to remove or greatly reduce a broad spectrum of health-damaging contaminants from water of questionable nature. These include water from lakes, rivers, stagnant water and water sources in foreign countries where, for example, water cannot be drunk from the tap. Of course, it can also be used to purify municipal or tap water.

The BPA-free plastic bottle uses a micro-porous filter which has a complex winding structure, so the water to be filtered has a longer path to travel through the filter and longer contact with the filter media. The filter media of the Sport Berkey uses "Ionic Adsorption Micro Filtration System", which means that it is impregnated with absorbent material, promoting the ionic absorption of all kinds of harmful substances.

This water filter filters the following unwanted substances from drinking water:
- Heavy metals such as aluminium, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead and mercury.
- Toxic chemicals such as trihalomethanes, pesticides, detergents, etc.
- Harmful pathogens up to 99.99999% such as cryptosporidium, Giarda, E-Coli and other pathogenic bacteria.
 

First use Sport Berkey

Fill the Sport Berkey with water, screw on the cap and tighten it tightly to prevent leaks. Make sure the straw sticks out and squeeze the bottle so that the water comes out through the filter. Repeat this flow-through process twice before your first drink. This process removes excessive dust from the filter. After two flushes, also rinse the bottle and cap clean. The filter is now ready for use.
 

Maintenance and storage

The Sport Berkey with filter can sit on the shelf for 50 years. Flush the system with a chlorinated solution of 1.25 ml. per 2 litres of water when the filter system will not be used for an extended period of time. Let it dry thoroughly with the cap off. Put it together and store. Do not let the filter freeze, do not put it in a microwave oven and do not let the filter come into contact with hot or salty water.
 

Refilling capacity and replacement

The Sport Berkey is refillable 640 times when tap water is filtered and 160 times when water from other sources is used. It is normally advisable to replace the filter element after 12 months. If kept cool and dry, the Sport Berkey has a shelf life of 50 years.
 

Composition of the Sport Berkey

The Sport Berkey is produced from BPA-free plastic. The bottle is made of LDPE (low density polyethylene), the cap of the bottle of HDPE (high density polyethylene) and the straw of PP (polypropylene). All these plastics are not known to be carcinogenic or hormone-disrupting.
